Notification Regarding The Rate Of Zakat Al-Fitrah And Fasting Atonements (Kaffarah)

We hope for the acceptance of prayers and supplications of all the honourable Muslims fasting this month. The opinion of His Highness, Grand Ayatollah Saafi Golpaygani, regarding the rate of Zakat Al-Fitrah and the fasting atonements, is as follows:

• The believers must pay the amount equivalent to one Saa’ (3 kilograms) of wheat or rice with the title of Zakat Al-Fitrah.
• The Atonement of unintentionally invalidated fast, for each day, is one Mudd’ of food (750 grams approx.).
• The Atonement of intentionally invalidated fast, for each day of intentional breaking of fast, is to provide food for 60 poor; one Mudd’ (750 grams approx.) of food, like wheat, for each one of them.

*Keeping in mind that the price of wheat and rice differs from city to city, therefore the ones fasting can calculate and pay as per the higher price of their locality.
