Method of Namaz – e – Mayyit

615. There are 5 Takbirs (saying Allah – o – Akbar) in Namaz – e – Mayyit and it is sufficient if a person recites those 5 Takbirs in the following order:

600. It is obligatory to offer Namaz – e – Mayyit for every Muslim, even if it is a child, however, both parents of that child or any one of them should be Muslim and child should have completed 6 years of its age.

601. It is Mustahab to offer Namaz – e – Mayyit of a child who has not completed 6 years of its age, however, to offer Namaz – e – Mayyit for a still born child is not Mustahab.

Rules of Hunoot

591. After Ghusl is given, it is Wajib to give Hunoot to a dead body, which is to apply camphor on its forehead, both the palms, both the knees and both the big toes of its feet. As per obligatory precaution, some camphor should be left there. It is Mustahab to apply camphor to the nose tip also. Camphor must be powdered and fresh, and if it is so stale that it has lost its fragrance, then as per precautionary measure, it will not suffice.

Rules regarding Kafan

576. The dead body of a Muslim should be given Kafan with three pieces of cloth: a loin cloth, a shirt or tunic, and a full cover.

The method of Ghusl of Mayyit

556. It is obligatory to give three Ghusls to a dead body.

The first bathing should be with water mixed with "Sidr" (Beri) leaves.
The second bathing should be with water mixed with camphor, and
The third should be with unmixed water.

557. The quantity of "Sidr" leaves and camphor should neither be so much that the water becomes mixed (Mudhaaf), nor so little that it may be said that "Sidr" leaves and camphor have not been mixed in it at all.

The obligation of Ghusl, Kafan, Namaz and Dafn

548. Giving Ghusl, Kafan, Hunoot, Namaz, and burial to every dead Muslim, regardless of whether he/she is an Ithna – Asheri or not, is Wajib on everyone. However, if some people undertake to fulfil the obligation, others will be relieved of the responsibility. And if no one undertakes to do so, all will be equally sinful.

غسل مس میّت

مسأله527. اگر كسی بدن انسان مرده‎ای را كه سرد شده و غسلش نداده‎اند مس كند، یعنی جایی از بدن خود را به آن برساند، باید غسل مس میت نماید؛ چه در خواب مس كند و چه در بیداری، با اختیار مس كند یا بی‎اختیار، حتی اگر ناخن یا استخوان او به ناخن یا استخوان میت برسد، باید غسل كند، ولی اگر حیوان مرده‎ای را مس كند، غسل بر او واجب نیست.

مسأله528. برای مس مرده‎ای كه تمام بدن او سرد نشده، غسل واجب نیست اگر چه جایی را كه سرد شده مس نماید.
